4-E Approach

What We Do

New Day Ministries emphasizes people and programs that promote safer, healthier thriving communities. New Day provides low-income, disadvantaged, and at-risk youth and young adults access to caring, committed men and women who have grown up in or survived similar challenging backgrounds to become successful, resilient adults and programs that equip and empower these same young people to go on to create their own successful lives. Our 4-E Approach is a multi-faceted and focused effort at preventing youth violence, intervening and improving youth growth and development, and reclaiming young people who otherwise might end up trapped in the juvenile justice system.

ENGAGE

Team

Our goal is to reach hundreds of Louisville youth and young adults in the Louisville Metro where they are today: in their hurt, in their homes, in their neighborhoods, and in their communities. Using our L.O.V.E. WALKS and L.I.F.E. Empowerment Program we will deploy knowledgeable, relatable, and caring adults who spend time with the youth and encourage them to pursue a better way of life.

L.O.V.E Walks

  • Neighborhood Walk – Abouts & Youth Invitationals held every 30 – 45 days
  • Focus on Neighborhoods in Louisville with high concentrations of poverty, youth, violence, gang activity, unemployment, and low academic performance
  • Uses these opportunities to speak with residents, listen to their issues, assess community needs, identify potential community revitalization projects, and meet the young people affected by these issues

L.I.F.E. (Love Inspiring Future Excellence) Program

  • A follow-up to the L.O.V.E Walks which pairs youth with positive adult mentors to help counsel and coach them as they navigate the many challenges faced by Louisville’s youth today
  • Mentors are trained to work with at-risk youth and are given available resources that can be shared with mentees to address more intensive issues or situations beyond mentors capabilities (domestic violence matters, mental health issues, legal issues, etc.)
  • Mentoring relationships are designed to be ongoing (with at least two face-to-face meetings monthly and unlimited communication or mediations in between as needed) and to especially help young people navigate their lives through completion of high school and their early adulthood years through age 25

ENRICH

Enrich

We aim to enrich the Chickasaw Community (our focus) by partnering with youth and young adults within the area to participate in beautification projects.

EMPOWER

Empower
Our goal is to empower young people to overcome the challenges in their lives and create better, brighter tomorrows while transforming themselves and their communities into safe places where they can live, love, laugh, learn, and thrive. New Day Ministries will connect young people with caring mentors and invites them to participate in cultural and creative experiential learning and living opportunities that show them firsthand the impact they can have now and in the future on their families, neighborhoods, communities, and city through the decisions they make and the actions they take now.

The ‘YOU-DO’ Project (Youth Led Community Centered Development Projects)

  • Working in partnership with other nonprofits, local/city/and state leaders, as well as local youth, identify one or more blighted properties in each targeted neighborhood that strategically, if revitalized and repurposed, could provide young people access to a safe space in which to pursue growth opportunities
  • Example of ideas: turn a former crack house and partially burned home into a youth computer coding and tech careers training center or converting an abandoned school into a residential business incubator and academic accelerator for teens and young adults ages 16- 24.
  • Each project is coordinated, conducted, and co-led by young people from that neighborhood from start to finish so as to encourage a sense of ownership and boost confidence in young people that they can make a difference in their communities, cities, and lives

“There has NEVER been a person that I’ve met in my entire life (and I’ve met a lot) that has such a total devotion, an absoluteness and selflessness towards God and towards people. [Tod is] the most caring, loving, charismatic, devoted, soldier of God that I have ever seen...”

Brian Webster

“Tod is a man of God doing an awesome outreach in God's Kingdom; Lisa and I are excited to be connected with him and looking forward to the upcoming work in downtown Louisville.”

Bryan Hagan

“Tod Moore Baker speaker broke generational sin in his family to come out of drugs, murder and prison to become a minister to Park Hill. Amazing testimony! Praise the Lord for this mans life and where he is going!”

Jason Richardson

“...your story has and is still affecting people all around the city and world for the Kingdom Of God today (not that I think you need to be reminded, you seemed pretty on fire for the Lord when I met you). You will definitely be in my prayers.”

“It has been my privilege to know Tod since 2015 through an indepth Disciple Program at Kentucky State Reformatory. His desire to mentor other inmates defined his heart for deliverance and wholeness. My life-long calling is to see people SET FREE from sin in its various expressions - whether drugs, crime, greed, or any other destructive behavior. I saw a CHAMPION in Tod as being someone who can and will make a difference in Communities dominated by the drug culture. I am honored to partner with Tod and New Day Ministries to further the impact of his message. ”

“...I didn't have anything in my house because I would work make money and send to my wife and 2 kids back in Haiti. The day Tod and New Day Ministries showed up with my furniture I couldn't believe that there were people like this anymore. They brought the furniture in, set it up, prayed with me and let me know they would return... I went back to Haiti on December 21 and gave Tod a key as he wanted to deliver some things to my apartment while I was away. On Christmas Eve I returned to Louisville with family and when we got to our apartment we walked in and were totally shocked at what Christ Jesus had done through Tod because now we had a home filled with furniture, food, baby bed for my 7 year old son and my 7 month old son, a Christmas Tree with presents under it, dishes to cook in and eat on, and a refrigerator full of food. I immediately called Tod to thank him as my wife and kids were screaming in the background and I remember Tod saying, "No problem Leslie the Lord has blessed you shared it with others, we are family in Christ." Before I met Tod and New Day Ministries my apartment was totally empty and my refrigerator. Now we have a home to call our own...”

“Tod authentically lives out a life redeemed by the Blood of Jesus the Christ by positively leading & influencing our West Louisville’s youth to NOT follow in his footsteps, or glamorize his destructive life choices that led to his incarceration. Shortly after Tod’s release, my husband & I heard him speak to a group of at risk boys. We saw his unique ability to connect to the youth & give them a revised focus & direction. [He] boldly speaks Truth to our youth to encourage them to become productive & godly members of society...”

“...I am currently deployed in Jordan where I read your memoir, and man it moved me to tears! As I was reading it I related to some of your childhood, but more so, you reminded me of my dad who passed away in 2006. My dad lived the street lifestyle where he eventually got in trouble with the law and sent to prison where he died of a heart attack; thank the Lord it was that and nothing something else. I'm not sure where my dad was in his faith, but your story of how God has saved and changed you has encouraged me to be more of a Light in the world wherever I am at...”

“...Through prayer Tod has lifted me up to see that God wants whats best for me and I am able to work with Christ to be the person I needed to be. I have mental issues and was an addict before I spoke with Tod. I am a recovering addict and have gotten myself on the right medicine to help with my mental problems and am living the best life and I owe it to the Lord and Tod for helping me through my drama and negative ways...”
